Friday, January 9th, 2015. 8:00pm at the Isabel Bader Performing Arts Centre with a pre-concert talk at 7:15pm.
Kingston residents John Burge and Michel Szczesniak are both composers and pianists as well as being long-time faculty members at Queen’s University School of Music and Conservatory of Music. On Friday, January 9, 2015 they will share a program performing some of their solo piano music. Included on the concert will be Szczesniak’s Scherzos Nos. 1 and 2, Vocalise, White Keys Nos. 2 and 3 and a major work entitled, Introduction, Ballade and Burlesque. John Burge will present the first complete performance of his Twenty-Four Preludes.
It is always a great opportunity to hear a composer perform their own music at the keyboard. This concert will also include performances of budding student pianist/composers from Queen’s University and the Queen’s Conservatory of Music, the names of who will be announced in December 2014.
